About Us
Who We Are
The Brotherhood Charity is a UK-based charity dedicated to supporting current and former members of His Majesty’s Armed Forces, along with their families and dependants.
We exist to help those who have served our country navigate the challenges of life during and after service — especially where hardship, poor mental health, injury, or social isolation create barriers to stability and wellbeing.
Our work is rooted in understanding, dignity, and action.
Our Purpose
Military service does not end when the uniform comes off.
For many, the transition to civilian life brings unseen struggles — financial hardship, housing insecurity, mental health difficulties, and a loss of identity or community.
The Brotherhood Charity was established to respond to these challenges by providing practical support, emotional care, and long-term pathways to stability for those who need it most.
What We Do
We support veterans, serving personnel, and their families through a range of targeted services, including:
Crisis & Hardship Support
We provide hardship grants, emergency assistance, and access to essentials such as food, clothing, and short-term accommodation for individuals and families facing immediate crisis.
Mental Health & Wellbeing
We promote recovery and resilience through trauma-informed counselling, peer support networks, suicide-prevention initiatives, and crisis response delivered by trained volunteers and trusted partners.
Housing & Stability
We support individuals at risk of homelessness by offering emergency accommodation support and signposting to housing services, welfare benefits, and debt advice.
Education, Skills & Employment
We help veterans rebuild independent civilian lives through access to training, mentoring, employability support, and confidence-building opportunities.
Community & Peer Support
We create safe spaces, peer-to-peer programmes, and community initiatives that rebuild camaraderie, reduce isolation, and restore a sense of belonging.
Who We Support
Our support is available to:
-
Veterans of the UK Armed Forces (Regular and Reserve)
-
Serving personnel experiencing hardship, injury, or ill-health
-
Immediate family members and dependants affected by these circumstances
All support is provided using clear, needs-based criteria, ensuring fairness, dignity, and responsible use of charitable resources.
How We Work
The Brotherhood Charity is overseen by a board of trustees and delivered by trained volunteers and partners with relevant experience and expertise.
We work collaboratively with other veteran-support organisations, statutory services, and community groups to ensure individuals receive the most effective and appropriate help — without duplication.
Our trustees regularly review our activities to ensure everything we do delivers genuine public benefit.
